Frog Pond - Williams Lake
|
We start at the Frog Pond. The sky is grey. Standing on the Purcell's Cove Road, we admire the
combination of dark green conifers and deciduous trees on the shores of the
southern end of the Frog Pond. The deciduous trees vary greatly in colour, and
the colours are somewhat sombre because the sun is not shining. We continue to Williams Lake, where a similar kind of experience
awaits us at the
east end of the lake. Particularly beautiful is a
small bay flanked by maples, birches and white pines.
Climbing on to the ridge which lies immediately to the south of Williams Lake, we are pleased by a rather different combination
of maples, birches and white pines, as we look at the
view towards the Purcell's Cove Road.
Further along on the ridge we see
bands of birches and white pines
when we look in the direction of the Purcell's Cove Road. As we proceed along the ridge the island-studded
west end of Williams Lake comes into view. Red, orange and yellow are
well represented in the landscape, but many deciduous leaves are still green. We descend from the ridge and walk towards Colpitts Lake.
