Spryfield - McIntosh Run | Starting in Spryfield, we are walking along the McIntosh Run at the very beginning of spring. Among the signs of spring are these maple blossoms and this sprouting tree, which we see as we look across the McIntosh Run. As we walk on a strip of granite flanked by juniper, we see sprouting larches. In the distance we see that the trees along the McIntosh Run are tinged with red, for they are maples. |
|
West Pine Island Pond - Herring Cove | Green grass and ferns are growing at the place where we see the McIntosh Run flowing into West Pine Island Pond. On the western shore of the lake, the leaves of the Indian pear bushes appear golden as the sun shines through them. The sight of these golden and green catkins, which we encounter as we approach Herring Cove, is also a delight. |
