Spryfield - Colpitts Lake - Williams Lake - Ridge south of Williams Lake | We walk from Spryfield to the north end of Colpitts Lake. In the woods near the lake we see a spring flower growing near some wintergreen leaves. It is the first of many. From the north end of Colpitts Lake we walk along the connecting stream to Williams Lake, and up on to the ridge on the south side of the lake. Looking southwest, we have a view from the ridge over bands of birches and conifers. On the ridge we can see the fresh green leaves and catkins of the white birch and patches of flowering rhodora. We come to a steep slope on the ridge, where we find an agreeable combination of shrubs and saplings growing among the rocky outcrops. We also see a very tangled bush which is crowned with golden leaves. After pausing to enjoy a view of Williams Lake, we leave the ridge and return to the lakeshore. |

Williams Lake - Colpitts Lake - Jollimore | We walk along the shore of Williams Lake until we reach the west end, at the point where the stream from Colpitts Lake enters. Then we walk along the stream. to the north end of Colpitts Lake. Next we walk across to the eastern end of Williams Lake, and along the stream flowing from Williams Lake to the Northwest Arm, which looks very beautiful with young leaves growing above and beside it. We end our walk in Jollimore, where we see these oak branches with young leaves, catkins and acorn cups on them. |
